A Doctor's Visit: Give Thanks

We need to share with you this story of thanksgiving we received this month. The following was written by Robert Parish, Pastor at Mountain View Alliance Church.

Fifteen years ago, my wife Gail had significant eye surgery. As we moved with ministry over the years, finding multiple eye doctors to continue care for her, one thing remained consistent in what doctors would say, “Wow, you have significant scar tissue wrapped around the nerves and capillaries in your eyes. I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

As we headed into 2021, Gail noticed her eyes worsening and began dreading her annual eye exam. The doctors had previously said the scar tissue was too involved to safely remove cataracts.

“Nobody’s going to want to operate on your eyes,” one doctor said.

Fast forward to October at our District Vision Conference where Gail and I had the privilege of being a part of the prayer team. On the last day, after we thought we had prayed with everyone, Randy and Linda Corbin approached us asking for prayer. We prayed for one another with Gail asking specifically for healing for her eyes. It was such a blessing to pray for one another.

On the morning of November 16, Gail headed into the dreaded eye appointment. But this time, for the first time in over a decade, she heard hopeful words.

“Everything looks good in your eyes,” the doctor said.

Gail immediately asked him about the scar tissue, and he had to actually look at the chart to remember the original problem. The scar tissue build up was no longer visible on the examination!

“That’s not a problem,” the doctor said.

Gail was even told she had no change to her prescription which is never the case.  So, while she still needs corrective lenses, this is significant healing of a major underlying problem. We are beyond excited and giving praise to Jesus Christ our Healer, Jehovah Rapha!

Jesus is good! Sing praise!
